Yesterday I awoke to a surprising sight: snow! And it wasn't just a light dusting, as we've had in recent weeks; God brought out the big guns this time (at least for southeastern Washington, where it rarely snows and sticks). Everything looks so dazzling in the snow (before it turns all mushy and dirty, that is---which it hasn’t yet, because it’s too darned cold). And the extra-special bonus? I have all week off from work (the offices are closed)! So of course I had to frolic in the snow, as well as have a bit more fun in my AWD Subaru---it makes great donuts. I drove around town, sliding around corners when no one was looking and trying to find extra-slippery spots to test my skills. It was a joyous day---walking, skipping and driving in the snow.
We got about five inches of snow, and it makes our (rather, my parents’) house look so wintry and old-fashioned (well, it’s not like it’s not already old-fashioned, or just plain old---a hundred years, in fact). Orange and blue are complementary colors, after all.
All in all, it was one of those unproductive but beautiful snow days.
P.S. As of noon today, the white stuff is still here! And we’re supposed to get more through the end of the week. I’m going skiing (or snowboarding, which I’ve never done before; I haven’t decided which) on New Year’s day---three cheers for fresh powder!
Thanks for the link ;) Glad to see you're enjoying your reading and that you finished Amazing Grace...I think you'll be happy to see a certain book on my Engaged Books list...
