The Olympic torch began its around-the-world journey today after being lit in Ancient Olympia, Greece (with the use of a concave mirror, as in ancient times---pretty nifty). This is the first global torch relay and will begin and end in Greece.
Go here, among other places, to read all about it.
"Pass the flame, unite the world"---a bold and worthy aspiration in times such as ours.
The torch will be carried through every city in which the Olympics have been held. Go here for a map of the route. And here's the official site for the 2004 games.
When a co-worker mentioned this today, he commented that he'd like the Olympics to last all year and the presidential elections to last only 16 days. I heartily agree.
I'd take the Olympics over the Presidental Election any day!
