Lovely Saturday. Even when it's cold and windy out, my little home is cozy. Especially when I wear my sheepskin slipper boots. Which, come to think of it, I should probably take with me next week. They'll take up half my carry-on, but I'm good at packing light in other ways.
Things have settled into an early winter pattern. I'm knitting this complicated but lovely sweater for myself. I'm on my sixth audio book in three weeks.
I'm more seriously considering graduate school for a master's in library science. All my life I've loved libraries, books, looking things up. The work I've been doing since college—editing, layout, website maintenance—is enjoyable but tiring. I don't like staring at a computer screen all day. I'd like to be a little more useful to other people. So I'm starting to explore this option.
This morning I made a lemon pie for Wes, because he won't be coming to Washington for Thanksgiving, but that doesn't mean he has to miss out on pie. Now I'm drinking green tea and eating leftover vegetable stew, listening to my favorite music, still wearing pajamas. Lovely, lovely Saturday.
I'll be flying to Seattle Wednesday afternoon, then driving to Walla Walla with my brother and his girlfriend. Then baking many pies, playing games, just enjoying my family. This morning I turned on NPR and heard the end of a conversation between Scott Simon and his mother. He was laughing so hard you could hear the tears. I love laughing to the point of hysteria with family. I'm sure we'll do some of that next week. And now that Michele is more familiar with our strange ways, she might not look at us so strangely. Well, she still might.
ooh, that is a pretty sweater!
I've heard great things about the MiLS. And I think that would be pretty darn awesome. And grad school really isn't that horrible, especially for a master's degree ;-)
The trip sounds awesome. I hope you have a fabulous time!
